Powersports

  1. Always lock your powersport vehicle anytime you are away from it, including at home. Lock it when its in the garage or basement, in your yard, in a parking garage, on a trailer, at the store everywhere.
  2. To protect against lift-away and tow-away theft, as well as roll-away and ride-away theft, always lock your vehicle to a fixed immovable object that is cemented or otherwise anchored to the ground. Beware of locking it to items that can be easily cut or broken, such as small trees, aluminum or wooden posts, and chain link fences (yes, thieves are that creative!).
  3. A thief may notice a pattern and target your vehicle if you lock in the same location all the time. Mix up the locations a little bit, especially if you are commuting on your motorcycle or scooter.
  4. Always lock vehicles being transported on trailers or the back of truck beds.
  5. Check with area law enforcement agencies and read all signs in the area before locking your bike. Don't lock to anything illegal.
  6. Lock in a location where there are other vehicles, if you have the option. The chances are pretty good that there will be a vehicle with less security, or no security, right near yours. Thieves will go for the easiest target every time.
  1. Always secure accessories and components, especially those that can be easily removed like helmets and jackets.
  2. Always take the time to properly lock your vehicle each and every time.
  3. Cables may be convenient to use, but are generally less secure. For the best protection always use a high-security U-lock or chain. For maximum protection use a combination of locks such as a U-lock or chain and a cable lock, or a heavy-duty cable lock and a disc lock.
  4. If you use a disc lock, Kryptonite makes a handy reminder cable to prevent riding away with the lock still engaged. If you dont have one already, please do pick one up! It will save your brake rotor, other pieces of your motorcycle, injury and, of course, it will save your pride!
